Upcoming Ebook: Future Hindsights

I am happy to announce that I am in the final stages of producing my next Ebook: Future Hindsights / Selected Writings on Photography and Experience.

This will be the first in a series of 3 upcoming titles (the other two will focus on Photography and Art, and Photography and Philosophy).

From the book’s current introduction:

“In my book, Another Day Not Wasted, I introduced ‘future hindsight’ as a useful attitude in making life choices. As I explained in the book, the attitude of future hindsight means living such that you consider with every choice you make what you might someday, looking back, regret not having done or at least attempted to do.

As a general attitude, future hindsight may amount to a nudge to get out of the house and spend some time in nature; it may be the prompt to invest time and effort in learning or trying new things, to deviate from habits or norms in pursuing personal meaning, to make personally-expressive, rather than derivative or repetitive art.

[…]

To express is not merely to document. To create is not merely to capture. My goal in making photographs is not to show  others what anyone else would have seen in the same circumstances, certainly not to copy what someone else had already seen and expressed before me. Rather, my goal is to create images embodying the fact that I—the unique person that I am—have experienced a moment of life that meant something to me—that felt exceptionally significant, important, and memorable to me.”

The Ebook will be about 100 pages long, consisting of over 25,000 words in essay forms and a selection of photographs.

I am currently on track to release the Ebook in late April. I will provide additional updates in the coming weeks.

New Offering: Club/Group Presentations

After a short hiatus, I am once again offering virtual presentations and Q&A sessions to clubs and groups. If you’d like to schedule me to present at your camera club, event, or to a group of friends, please see the information on this page.

As always, your support of my work, including the free articles I offer on this blog, is greatly appreciated (and needed). Please consider that my writings, teachings, and photographs are my only sources of income. If you are not already a supporter, please consider making a donation, however small.

~ Please consider supporting my work using Patreon. ~

Patreon gives those who believe in supporting the arts a secure platform to give direct, ongoing support to their chosen creators and artists. You may toss as little as $2/month into the virtual tip jar, or as much as your budget and generosity will allow. You can do it for a month, or be a sustaining Patron for a longer period; it is entirely your choice. Regardless of the amount, your support allows me the freedom to continue to create. You are supporting my art and writing practice throughout the year, covering the times when it is impractical or impossible for me to get out to generate income through my personal appearances or workshops.

Any donation you choose to give is accepted with gratitude.
